just want to sleep

I wonder how my body can be so tired but my brain can't stop. sometimes i wish i was like data on star trek and could just push a button on my neck that shut me down to sleep. my whole body is exhausted. i mean if i was my body i would be exhausted from just trying to circulate blood through my pregnant duck body. it seems mean that when your muscles are tired and you are trying to rest them they ache. um, hello that keeps me awake. what gives?

I hear ya! Sometimes I feel like my brain is the energizer bunny! It never shuts off. I laid in bed for 3 hours before I fell asleep the other night! And I'm not even pregnant! Thanks for making me so excited Megan!

why would data have a button to push. he's a robot! couldn't he just "think" it and he would turn off? buttons, even on gadgets, are becoming kind of clunky and old fashioned. you didn't see any robots supposedly from the future with buttons on the original star trek!

Years ago, in an undergraduate psychology class, my professor taught us a relaxation technique that has never failed me. It is to lie still in your favorite and most comfortable position, and deeply concentrate on your breathing. As thoughts enter your mind, as soon as you realize you are thinking of something, block it out, and go back immediately to concentrating on your inhaling and exhaling. Soon crazy, disjointed thoughts will enter your mind. Wipe them out and keep concentrating on your breathing. Suddenly you realize you have been sleeping peaceably for hours. I have used this technique with toothaches; in a hole in Vietnam; and after a long, tense day at work. Maybe it will work on pregnant women, too.

I had this happen this Elijah & Owen's pregnancy. It was an odd thing. I finally figured out if it was dead quiet I could sleep. But if it was quiet I'd have all sorts of things racing through my mind!

A sound machine!!! Try that.

I ended up using a plug in fan, the tv and sometimes music playing real quiet in the room. ANYTHING but silence.

Hope you get your peaceful sleep soon!

ok there's a ton of typos in that, but you get the idea. If it WAS quiet, I couldn't sleep during E&O's pregnancy. HA. Wow, I'm done multitasking now.
